FTE - Classroom constructions

  • Freedom Through Education - Classroom construction

Our Round Table National Project is "Freedom Through Education" (FTE) and its main aim is to educate underprivileged children. Under the FTE Program, Tablers identify needy Schools for underprivileged that are operating from dilapidated or open structures; schools that have land available but little resources to take up big expenditures like Construction. RTI builds School Blocks with Amenities across India to help such efforts and hands over newly constructed quality school Blocks to the school bodies.

Construction of 12 Class Rooms at the Madras Seva Sadan School at Tambaram

MMRT 42s makes a very careful selection of the schools where we would like to execute our FTE projects. Normally from a list of prospective schools the team makes a visit to each campus and identifies the most deserving school based on their current infrastructure status and more importantly the schools capability to put these assets to good use where they have a good system is place for employing teachers and conduction the affairs of the school in a professional manner.

The Madras Seva Sadan School in Tambaram was identified as the FTE project site for 2015 - 16 by the projects team. An MOU was signed between Madras Seva Sadan Trust and MMRT 42 Foundation in Feb 2016 for construction of 12 class rooms and the MOU is cited as a joint project between the two bodies. The total project outlay is for construction of approximately 9200 Sq. Ft of built up area at a cost of 1.05 Crores. This project will be funded by the MSS trust at 60% and by MMRT 42 at 40% of the total cost. The construction is expected to begin in July 2016 after securing all required approvals.

Setting up of a Computer Lab and Science Lab at Two schools

The funds for setting up a science lab in the Govt High School in Pallikarnai and a computer lab in the Madras Seva Sadan School in Tamabaram were raised from e-Bay Foundation. The grant amount was for USD 5000 which was sent to the RTIT trust and later transferred to our Foundation. This was a global grant to which we had applied and the paperwork and approval process was lengthy. The funds were received in Nov 2015 and with the diversion of our efforts in Dec related to the flood relief work this project did not take off as planned. We could reinitiate the work in Feb 2016 and the donors were kept informed of the initial delay as well. The two labs was set up utilizing this fund and the balance funds from our foundation. The total outlay of the project was close to 3.50 Lakhs

On June 10th the computer lab which was set up by MMRT 42 was also inaugurated at the MSS Campus after the Bhoomi Pooja for the FTE project. Supply of School Uniforms and Books for Library at Sarada Vidyalaya
